Bishop Grosseteste University (BGU), Lincoln, is seeking to appoint a dedicated individual to undertake the role of External Examiner for the following Level 7 programme:
National Award in Special Educational Needs Co-ordinators (NA-SENCO)
The programme comprises two 30-credit modules, Professional Knowledge and Understanding of SEND and Leading and Co-ordinating Provision for Pupils with SEND, and is undertaken by professionals from within education who are current or aspiring Special Educational Needs Co-ordinators (SENCO) in schools or other relevant settings.
The BGU Code of Practice for External Examining requires that applicants possess qualifications to the level of the programme(s) being examined or above or, where relevant, extensive practitioner experience. Therefore, the ideal candidate will have completed an MA/MEd qualification, and be involved with delivery of an NA-SENCO programme at another institution. Moreover, applicants must not have worked for Bishop Grosseteste University within the previous five years, nor possess more than one other current External Examiner appointment at another institution.
External Examiners at BGU are invited to comment on draft assessment briefs, audit samples of student work, attend examination boards and prepare an annual External Examiner Report at the close of each academic year. As such, applicants should possess sound expertise within the subject area and have previous experience of Higher Education delivery. Previous experience of External Examining and HEA Fellowship are desirable, as is a good understanding of quality assurance processes.
The applicant should be able to take up the role with immediate effect, until August 2023.
The position attracts an annual fee of £300 plus reasonable expenses, including reimbursement of travel expenses to and from Lincoln, a historic city favoured by both students and visitors alike.
Further information regarding the above-detailed programme can be accessed on the Bishop Grosseteste University website, and a copy of the Code of Practice for External Examining is also available via the website.
Individuals interested in the position should forward an expression of interest and current academic CV to firstname.lastname@example.org.
